New Cobra Functionality: Fixed Table Assignments and Single Sided Swiss

Hello Netrunners!

We have just launched two exciting new features for Cobra, our tournament software: Fixed Table Assignments and Single-Sided Swiss!

Fixed Table Assignments are available now to help Tournament Organizers (TOs) better support events in which some players will be seated at a fixed table location for the duration of the tournament.

TOs are now able to assign a table number when registering a player or set one for an already registered player instead of handling this separately from the tournament software.

When paired, that player will be assigned that table. It is recommended to use a table number larger than the number of players to make things a bit more obvious, but the seatings will work even if you have a table number less than the number of players divided by two.

Single-Sided Swiss doesn’t need any explanation itself, but the new support in Cobra deserves a walkthrough.

Tournament creation now has a new Swiss-Format selector:

TOs can switch the side for a pairing by using the Corp or Runner buttons for each player.

When this is selected as the Swiss Format, the pairings view for players and TOs will look a little different.  Corp Players will be shown on the left, with Runner players on the right, and player side bias will be displayed in the standings.

Fixed table assignments came from the WebDev team’s very own haradan. The bulk of the Single-Sided Swiss implementation came from none other than the original author of Cobra and Community Champion Johno (with a bit of fit and finish work from me). Thanks, Johno!  The NSG Organized Play team also helped with feedback and user testing.

We hope you enjoy these new features and use them to keep running amazing tournaments all over the world!
