Hey Runners!
Following the recruitment of our new Community Team Lead, we are recruiting for two other leadership roles: EDI Team Lead and Media Team Lead! The EDI and Media teams are critical to helping the game continue to grow while ensuring it remains accessible and welcoming to all. If you’re keen to help out in one of these areas and see something in the descriptions of either of these roles that make you think that you’d be a great match, please do make an application!
EDI Team Lead
In the role of EDI Team Lead, you are going to be responsible for promoting equality, diversity and inclusion both within Null Signal Games as well as in our products and our community facing communications. It will be through you that members of the organization, as well as the community, will be supported to feel safe and acknowledged, allowing everyone to enjoy their interactions with Netrunner to the fullest.
As EDI Team Lead, you will be supported by a large team, including liaisons with other departments. Beyond communication within your team, you will work closely with the VP of Staff Support and other team leads. There is also an expectation that you as the EDI Team Lead will be a representative of NSG and its values in public spaces.
Applications will remain open until the role is filled.
Duties
- Communicate EDI issues that arise to the EDI team and coordinate discussion and decision making.
- Advocate for EDI perspectives among NSG leadership.
- Coordinate with EDI team members embedded in other teams.
- Maintain general awareness of the EDI team’s activity across NSG.
Current/Upcoming Projects
- Continue developing embedded roles for EDI members in other teams in coordination with relevant team leads.
- Continue development of Standards and Practices document.
Must-have skills
- Be able to delegate tasks and coordinate discussions amongst a diverse team spread globally.
- Be able to synthesize perspectives and opinions on EDI issues from discussion within the team and clearly communicate them to leadership/other teams as necessary.
- Be able to communicate with various team leads and understand various organizational processes.
- Trauma-informed.
- Multicultural competence and ability to advocate for minority positions.
Workload
The workload of this role is highly variable, and as such you will need to be quite flexible and available when critical issues arise. However, a large part of the work will involve asynchronous work in coordinating internal EDI discussions.
As this is a team leadership role, it is important that you can be available to run EDI team meetings as needed, and attend department meetings at least once per development cycle as well as less frequent meetings with other NSG team leads. Our team is spread across the globe, so some flexibility with time zones is helpful for meetings.
A note on diversity
We acknowledge that the tabletop industry as a whole needs to do a better job with diversity. We are prioritizing those applicants that can bring to NSG different experiences and points of view than we currently have on our team.
NOTE: Null Signal Games is a volunteer organization. All roles at Null Signal Games are unpaid.

In the Media team you will be reporting to the Community Team Lead and ultimately to the VP for Engagement. You will also work closely with Organised Play and Events to schedule and deliver high quality coverage. In addition, the role will see you connecting with Marketing to recognise and facilitate media opportunities, and working with EDI to ensure that the stage is given to a range of voices, backgrounds and experiences.
Applications close on Friday, April 12, 2024.
Duties
- Lead a new team, which will sit as a sub team within the Community team.
- Be in charge of all media creation, including commentary, tournament streams, podcasts, and other potential video content.
- Create and develop streaming tools, both software and hardware.
- Organize commentary for streams, both online and in person.
- Schedule and oversee the Null Signal Station podcast, discussing potential features with the hosts and ensuring sustainability and quality.
- Work closely with the marketing team to facilitate any media and content creator opportunities.
- Organize the uploading of streams to youtube in a timely manner.
- Organize moderation of streams where required.
- Checking in with other team members to make sure content and media remains professional and representative of the organization.

- Organize the streams for NSG-run tournaments such as AMTs, World Championships, Continental Championships and the Circuit Breaker Invitational, as well as any other significant events.
- Create a stream pack for community members to pick up and use.
As this is a new team, there will be discussions with the VP of Engagement about suggestions for exciting new projects and an opportunity to recruit other team members to fill skill gaps and increase capacity.
Must-have skills
- Familiarity with streaming.
- Confidence in OBS or equivalent.
- Integrity and professionalism – this role will be assisting in creating content that sets a tone for NSG as a public facing organization.
- Ability to seek support from other departments of NSG where required.
Preferred skills
(These skills would be nice, but can be learned in role.)
- Editing experience.
Workload
This role is estimated to take up around 3-5 hours per week of your time, although there may be spikes in workload around major events. Although there is no expectation for you to travel to attend the highest level events to assist in person, compensation for doing so may be available.
