Hello! Extrac from the production team here with another update on the progress of Liberation cycle set 2!
It’s been a hectic month over at NSG HQ, with a lot of focus on the 2023 World Championship in Barcelona. Predictably, this has reduced the capacity of several teams at NSG, but we continue to make progress on the production of the next set.
Global progress aggregated over all branches of production for the set is currently sitting at 29%, meaning we are almost a third of the way to overall set completion. Given the somewhat exponential nature of set production (i.e. the rate of individual task completion tends to rise as the set nears total completion) we remain overall pleased with how the set is progressing at this stage.
On the mechanical development side: whilst there is some concern about making our milestone dates for mechanical lock on some of the more complex cards we feel that with continued focus this will be a manageable challenge. Our latest mechanical version release for playtesting has just come out and we will continue to monitor this area to keep things moving. Set design is currently sitting at 95%, with development (refinement of the concepts incepted during the design phase) sitting at 43%.
On the creative side we have started our commissioning process with the first pieces of art on the way to us from our artist partners. Artist brief writing is underway and we are continuing to contract artists as these are completed. Card names are sitting at overall 11% locked and this number will continue to rise as names go through peer review and artwork returns to help us finalise names.
These two branches are our primary focus at this time, as translation and rules tend to begin in earnest later in the cycle when these earlier stages are more locked to prevent unnecessary rework. Updates on these will be posted here as they come online.
Additionally, we have a brief update on the remaster project for the Ashes Cycle. Our rules team is in the final stages of updating the card text which means we should be shortly ready to template the cards into frames. From there we will move to printing with the aspiration to start selling them in our store in the first quarter of 2024.
That’s all from us for now: a shorter update from us for this month, but the headline message remains ‘development is continuing at pace with more updates to come’. You can keep up with the current status of all our projects on our Product Status page. We look forward to bringing you further updates as set 2 continues to progress. See you all next time!
