Hello, Runners. My name is Tamijo and I’m coming to you today as the Null Signal Games Recruitment Team Lead to let you know about our new recruitment drive! You may remember our previous recruitment drive from the tail end of last year – that drive was successful in many areas, and our organization has grown massively because of it. However, there’s still tonnes of work to be done, and many new roles have opened up in the meantime.
Below you will find all of the roles we are currently advertising for. If you are reading this far in the future, please check out our recruitment portal for the latest information on all of our positions.
Please note: these positions are unpaid. You can and should expect to learn and practice new skills, but Null Signal Games is an all-volunteer organization.
Please note that Null Signal Games primarily communicates through an internal Discord server. The ability to access Discord is necessary for all roles.

You will also have the opportunity to write articles yourself if you are so inclined. You will also edit and update the static content on the Null Signal Games website. While you will collaborate closely with the Lead Editor and writers from teams across Null Signal Games, you will operate with a large degree of autonomy. Marketing
Convention Coordinator
In the role of Convention Coordinator, it will be your job to organize the NSG presence at conventions and other events. You will be working closely with the advertising coordinator, as well as Social Media and Community teams to promote events and you will be reporting to the Marketing and Engagement Leads. Beyond members of NSG, you will also have contact with volunteers and community representatives at events in addition to forming relationships with event organizers to ensure the staffing runs smoothly.
Applications will remain open until the role is filled.
Duties
- Organize, book, and oversee convention attendance for NSG across the world. Including but not limited to PAX West, PAX East, PAX Aus, PAX Unplugged, Gencon, Spiel Essen, UKGE, and SHUX.

A note on diversity
We acknowledge that the tabletop industry as a whole needs to do a better job with diversity. We are prioritizing those applicants that can bring to NSG different experiences and points of view than we currently have on our team.

EDI Creative Liaison
The Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity team is looking for new members who can bridge the gap between teams. The EDI team is responsible for ensuring that whoever wants to play Netrunner can play Netrunner. You will achieve this by working closely with the Narrative and Visual teams, advising them and answering questions on accessibility, equality, and diversity issues that come up when writing narrative pieces, concepting card themes, and commissioning artwork. You will work with the rest of the EDI team to discuss them and solicit advice from people with lived experiences so that we can solve these problems.
Applications will remain open until the role is filled.
Duties
- Provide feedback on narrative and visual design from the genesis of sets to their completion, helping to ensure the game we create upholds NSG’s commitments to diversity, accessibility and true-to-life storytelling.
- Work with outside creative consultants to help us draw on the lived experiences of communities and demographics that are underrepresented within the creative teams.
- Help to provide solutions for potential problems that arise, drawing on the wider EDI team if need be to help find solutions amenable for all parties.
- There may be opportunities to engage with a wider range of narrative and visual work outside of specific EDI tasks, depending on your interest and the needs of the creative team leads.
Current/Upcoming Projects
- Production work on Dawn, engaging in cultural consultancy to assist with research on the setting.
- Helping to work on the Netrunner setting guide we will be providing to new artists.
Must-have skills
- A passion for the work that both the EDI team does – making the game more accessible – and the Narrative and Visual teams do – creating the world that Netrunner is set in. You will be expected to understand the nuances around all of these roles, though this will come with experience in the role.
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to accommodate and synthesize multiple, sometimes conflicting, points of view.
Workload

Duties
- Help to formulate accessibility and accommodation guidelines for NSG-run events (worlds, continentals and online).

- Review plans and art for prizes commissioned by OP, ensuring we are avoiding inadvertently playing into stereotypes or using harmful imagery.
- There may be opportunities to engage with a wider range of Organized Play work outside of specific EDI tasks, depending on your interest and the needs of the team.

You will be expected to understand the nuances around all of these roles, though this will come with experience in the role.
- Good communication skills and an openness to feedback from the wider community.
Preferred skills
(These skills would be nice, but can be learned in role)

Game Development
Associate Developer
As a member of the Development team, you will assist in the set development process for the next NSG release. This includes playtesting the upcoming set, reviewing playtester feedback, iterating on cards to prepare them for release, and collaborating with the Design team on early prototypes for future sets. You will report directly to the Lead Developer and work most frequently with other members of the Dev team. You will also be communicating frequently with the other NSG Production teams like Design, Rules and Creative to make sure each set is great!
Applications close on Friday, August 16, 2024 and we will be recruiting 3 Associate Developers.
Duties
- Attend weekly development calls. These currently take place at 20:00 UTC, but we will do our best to accommodate everyone’s schedule, so don’t let your availability in this time slot deter you from applying.
- Playtest at least 2 hours a week.
- Coordinate proposed changes with the Rules and Design team.
Current/Upcoming Projects
- Dawn.
Must-have skills
- Passionate about players’ experiences with Netrunner.
- Ability to empathize with players of different skill levels and backgrounds.

- Must be able to regularly playtest using the internal Jnet server.
- Extensive experience with Netrunner or a variety of other card games preferred.
Workload
You will be expected to join online meetings with some level of consistency. The Development Team meets weekly but not everyone is expected to be present at every meeting. Once every 3 weeks, we release a new version of the upcoming set internally and aim to have everyone on the team present during those meetings, which can run 3-5 hours, however you will not need to stay for that whole block.
When a new set version is about to be released, most members on the team tend to spend more time playtesting and communicating with other teams to get everything in order. Our team is split across the globe, so some flexibility with time zones is helpful for meetings.

- Experience with the Startup format.
- A passion for maintaining Startup going forward.
- Strong communication skills.
- Familiarity with Discord and using it to communicate with others.
Workload
You will be expected to be in tune with the workings of the organization, which means keeping up with Discord fairly regularly. - Strong communication skills.
- Using Discord to communicate within the organization.
Workload

Startup Panel Volunteer
If you want to be part of the decision making process about how to balance the Startup card pool but are not in a position to commit to a more long-term role then being a Startup Panel Volunteer is for you! You will be drawing on your experience with Startup to help the team to make decisions about balancing the format by attending a meeting of the Startup Format Panel.
Applications close on Friday, July 19, 2024 and we will be recruiting 3 Startup Panel Volunteers.

Must-have skills
- Using Discord to attend a voice chat meeting.
- A good ability to discuss topics that might involve some disagreement.
- A passion and interest in the current Startup competitive metagame.
Workload
The temporary nature of this role means that there is no workload beyond filling out a scheduling poll as well as the 2 hour meeting itself. This does however mean that some flexibility with time zones is helpful for ensuring that everyone is able to attend the meeting. It would be helpful to be available to provide further thoughts on the format to the Startup Curators should the meeting run out of time, but this isn’t required.
A note on diversity
We acknowledge that the tabletop industry as a whole needs to do a better job with diversity. We are prioritizing those applicants that can bring to NSG different experiences and points of view than we currently have on our team.
