Hello Netrunners!
As 2024 comes to a close, we begin ramping up to the 2025 competitive season. We are excited to announce that all 2025 District Championships have been awarded to their respective countries and tournament organizers!
Our District Championship organizers are now working to confirm dates for their events, so we advise players to keep an eye on AlwaysBeRunning.Net for tournament listings as they are released.
You can find the full list of selected locations further down in the article. First, let’s see what prizes you’ll be competing for at the 2025 District Championships.
This year’s District Championship features an amazing new alt art Spin Doctor by Oliver Morit and a beautiful playmat featuring the art of Regenesis by Anthony Hutchings. In addition, we’re introducing a new type of double-sided alt art of SDS Drone Deployment. This double-sided alt art features fantastic art by Júlio Rocha as well as a reframed design on the back inspired by classic console game boxes.
This alternate design, while a lot of fun, does not meet the requirements for competitive event usage but we couldn’t resist having a bit of fun! So we’ve released it as a B-Side with a “For Casual Play Only” tag at the bottom. You can have fun with it at your Casual Tournaments and then flip it over to the competitive-legal side when you head off to other District Championships or higher-tier events.
Prize Structure
- Winner: Bye for any 2025 Megacity Championship, invitation to the 2026 Circuit Breaker Invitational Championship
- Top 4: Regenesis playmat (Illustrated by Anthony Hutchings)
- Top 8: SDS Drone Deployment double-sided alt art (Illustrated by Júlio Rocha)
- Top 24: Spin Doctor alt art (Illustrated by Oliver Morit)
- TO’s Discretion (6 playsets): Simulchip Alt art (Illustrated by Kira L. Nguyen)
A Note about Circuit Breaker Invites: In the 2025 season, CBI invites will no longer roll down infinitely and are instead restricted to only to the players who made the top cut in each event. In events where there is no top cut, invites are limited to the top two placing players. See this article explaining why we made this change.
Megacity Byes, like Circuit Breaker Invites, may be voluntarily passed down, but not beyond the Top Cut (or top 2).
Each kit contains an extra playset of Spin Doctor and SDS Drone Deployment plus an extra Regenesis playmat for the tournament organizer to keep as reward for their efforts or use as they see fit. The kit also includes 6 playsets of the Simulchip alt art which was originally available as part of the 2022 Circuit Opener.
