The MWL is changing, not only in content, but also in name and format! After almost two years of keeping the name and version number format the list had before NISEI, the MWL will from now on simply be called the “Ban List”. The version numbers will also be changing to a datemark in the form of YY.MM.
These are not the only changes coming with Ban List 20.06. As implied by the new name, we are abolishing the Restricted list and adopting a ban list-only format! Cards which were previously restricted have been either freed or banned. As was the case for cards on the Removed list under the previous MWL format, you may not use any cards on the Ban List in events held under the NISEI Standard format.
Changes as radical as these deserve some explanation. We’ve written another article in which we examine in detail the changes to both the content and format of the list.
The new Standard Ban List will be in force for Standard format events as of 26 June, 2020.
Standard Ban List 20.06
Effective 26 June, 2020.
Cards on this list may not be used in Standard format games.
